Fashion retailer Brownie chooses Nedap’s !D Cloud RFID software solution

Groenlo, The Netherlands, 20 July 2017

Nedap has signed an agreement with the fast-growing Spanish fashion retailer Brownie for the supply of its Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) software solution !D Cloud. Brownie uses !D Cloud to raise the in-store stock accuracy of its stores. The roll-out took place from May to June 2017.

Albert Puyol, CEO at Brownie: “The implementation of Nedap’s RFID software is the first step in our digitalization process. This technology gives us the stock accuracy level that we need to be a real omnichannel player. Using !D Cloud, we have more insight in our operations than ever before. We now know the product availability and stock depth for each store and even per location within each store.”

Insights into actual stock data
Nedap’s !D Cloud software suite is specifically developed for retail applications to raise a retailer’s stock accuracy. Detailed insights into the actual stock levels also make it possible to connect the stock of physical stores with the retailer’s online platforms and offer services like Click & Collect. During the pre-rollout in three stores, Brownie evaluated the user-friendliness and effectiveness of the solution. Puyol adds: “We now have an RFID solution that not only gives us a better stock accuracy, but is also easy to use for our store staff. This significantly increases its effectiveness.”

RFID in the cloud
At Brownie, all items are source tagged with an RFID label on the hangtag. In the stores, staff members perform a weekly cycle count using an RFID handheld reader and the !D Cloud app on a mobile device. !D Cloud then translates the collected data into comprehensive lists that highlight the differences between Brownie’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and the RFID count. Consequently, the causes of stock differences, through losses or administrative errors, can be identified and dealt with more quickly. Puyol concludes: “With the implementation of !D Cloud, we have access to structured and up-to-date information that allows us to make better decisions and significantly increase our sales.”

Acne Studios chooses Nedap’s !D Cloud for stock accuracy and Omnichannel services

Successful rollout in 12 countries accomplished in 3 months

Groenlo, The Netherlands, 9 May 2017

Nedap has signed a global agreement with Acne Studios, a Swedish high-end fashion brand, for the supply of its RFID software platform !D Cloud. The global rollout to Acne Studios’ 45 stores in 12 countries was accomplished in only three months. Using !D Cloud, the retailer aims to raise the in-store stock accuracy in their stores and enable omnichannel services.

Mattias Magnusson, CEO at Acne Studios, explains: “Our main challenge is how to unify the online and in-store experience and service in order to gain and maintain the trust of our customers. The only way to master this is by having a nearly 100% stock accuracy. Therefore, automating our stock taking with RFID was the logical next step.”

Fast RFID implementation plan
The pace of the RFID implementation at Acne Studios was extraordinarily high as it took only 3 months from the first proof-of-concept to the completion of the rollout. During this period, the ERP integration, staff training and RFID labelling of the merchandise was completed.

Magnusson adds: “Once we decided to move to RFID, we were looking for a cloud solution that fits our IT strategy. We believe that in today’s cloud empowered world, it does not make sense to opt for an on-premises software solution. Cloud solutions like !D Cloud, but also for other fields like CRM or e-commerce, enable us to scale much faster with only a fraction of the internal work load and ongoing costs.”

!D Cloud: Accurate stock data & omnichannel enablement
The !D Cloud software suite is specifically developed for retail applications to raise the retailer’s stock accuracy and support store employees with processes like in-store replenishment. Detailed insights into the actual stock levels also make it possible to connect the stock of the physical stores with the retailer’s online platforms.

Norwegian retailer Brandstad rolls out Nedap RFID solution

Groenlo, the Netherlands — November 23, 2016

Nedap today announced that multi-brand menswear retailer Brandstad has successfully rolled-out !D Cloud, Nedap’s cloud-based RFID solution to all their stores in Norway. In close cooperation with Nedap’s local partner Securitas Teknikk, Brandstad rolled out the RFID solution to 18 stores within four weeks. !D Cloud enables Brandstad to significantly raise the stock accuracy and optimize the merchandise availability in their stores.

In July 2016, Brandstad was acquired by fashion retailer Moods of Norway, who have already been using Nedap’s !D Cloud solution since 2014. As Thomas Kjoesnes, Operations Manager at Brandstad stated: “We had already selected Nedap’s RFID solution, but the takeover by Moods of Norway has definitely accelerated the roll-out. The first results are amazing, because we already see a giant leap in our stock accuracy from 65% to 99%. To fully benefit, we opted for an integration of our retail system, Visma CS-Web, with !D Cloud. Now we can finally trust the numbers and improve our replenishment process to make sure that we always have the right products available for our brand sensitive customers.”

Cloud-based RFID solution with ERP integration
Once a week, the Brandstad employees take rapid inventory with Nedap’s !D Hand RFID handheld reader in the stores. After the stock take, the results are sent to !D Cloud, which generates a difference list highlighting the differences between the RFID reads and the ERP data. After approval of the difference list, Visma CS-Web is automatically updated.

“The newly developed integration of the Visma software with !D Cloud is not only great for Brandstad, because in fact all Visma retail customers can benefit from RFID from now on,” explained Danny Haak, Product Manager at Nedap. “!D Cloud allows for easy integration of RFID with ERP systems without additional middleware, which makes the implementation extremely fast and cost-effective for retailers.”

River Island and Nedap roll out RFID within 7 months

Retailer rolls out RFID to 280 stores after achieving sales increase in first stores

Groenlo, the Netherlands — October 26, 2016

UK-based fashion retailer River Island has selected Nedap for the international roll-out of RFID hard- and software in 280 stores. The roll-out will be completed within a period of only 7 months as there is no need for time consuming IT integrations. In this large-scale project, Nedap will be the main contractor responsible for delivering the cloud based software !D Cloud and RFID handheld readers as well as ensuring the quality of the RFID labels on the merchandise.

To prove the business case, River Island first initiated a pilot, which demonstrated that !D Cloud enables a significant increase in stock accuracy and, as a result, an increase in sales due to improved product availability. Jon Wright, Head of Global Loss Prevention & Safety at River Island, explains: “Initially, our total stock accuracy was not where we needed it to be. Upon implementing and trialing !D Cloud, accuracy was raised to 97% for all stores within two weeks and has remained consistent week after week. And even more important, that has achieved us a significant sales increase across all our pilot stores.”

RFID as the omnichannel enabler
“In a world of omnichannel, product availability is king. Therefore, accurate stock data is vital for us to successfully offer omnichannel services to our customers. We are impressed with how advanced !D Cloud is, yet how little IT effort it takes to implement it, which makes adopting RFID extremely easy. This enables us to focus on the most important part right from the start – raising the stock accuracy in all our stores and gaining full control over our inventory through item-level visibility,” commented Jon Wright.

Using RFID, River Island is aiming to significantly raise their in-store stock accuracy which can enable efficient omnichannel services like ship-from-store, Buy Online Return In Store and Buy Online Pickup In Store.

Rob Schuurman, Managing Director at Nedap Retail, added: “We are incredibly proud to be able to announce that River Island sets of their RFID journey with us. The full roll-out to 280 stores will be completed within 7 months. This shows how !D Cloud perfectly fits the retail sector’s requirements. The solution is native cloud-based which makes it extremely future-proof, as new features become available continuously. Moreover there is no need for costly and complex software integrations or servers in each store location. This makes it possible to quickly benefit from RFID with the least complexity and upfront investments.”

EuroCIS 2016: Nedap showcases stock availability solutions

Groenlo, the Netherlands — February 9, 2016

At the upcoming EuroCIS trade show in Düsseldorf, from 23 – 25 February 2016, Nedap presents stock availability solutions for the global retail sector. The key solutions presented by Nedap (booth 10A02) are the !Sense hardware portfolio and the !D Cloud software suite. These solutions enable retailers to permanently lower their shrinkage levels and significantly improve their on-shelf merchandise availability.

!Sense : Concealed EAS systems & effective alarm management
Nedap’s !Sense portfolio includes RF/ RFID antennas and smart readers for electronic article surveillance (EAS) and in-store merchandise tracking. At EuroCIS, Nedap will showcase its hybrid (RF/ RFID) pedestals and concealed solutions – a RAIN RFID overhead reader and a door-mounted RF antenna. These solutions blend seamlessly into the store design, offer a better customer experience and enable a larger selling space in the highly frequented entrance area.

To support the store staff with their alarm management, Nedap presents plug & play IP-integrations with pagers and the cameras and video management software from Axis Communications. With the pager integration, staff members instantly receive a discrete signal in case of an EAS or metal detection alarm while the Axis integration makes it possible to record all EAS events in the video management software. The Axis Camera Application for !Sense can also raise alarms and trigger live views. This enables time savings and a more effective shrink reduction.

!D Cloud : Accurate stock data & omni-channel enablement
The !D Cloud software suite is a Software as a Service solution specifically developed for retail applications, giving retailers the quickest route to implement RFID and improve their in-store stock accuracy to over 98%. !D Cloud translates the collected data from RAIN RFID readers in the stores into comprehensive lists that highlight the out-of-stocks and overstocks. Thereby, the causes of stock differences, through losses or administrative errors, can be identified and dealt with more quickly.

A better understanding of the actual on-shelf availability enables retailers to finally do perfect replenishment which proves to significantly increase sales. The detailed insights into the exact location of each item also makes it possible to connect the stock of the physical stores with the retailer’s online platforms. This is the basis to successfully introduce omni-channel concepts like “click & collect” or “buy online & return offline” without adding complexity or a separate supply chain.
